Although the celebrity couple built a life in Nashville to be close to Urban’s country music career, the prolific actress and her rockstar beau were frequent travellers with an international property portfolio to suit.

Throughout their nearly two decades together, the couple acquired homes across the globe, from Sydney and the Southern Highlands to America’s West Coast and beyond.

Here’s a look inside the houses that defined their life together – and what might happen to their celebrity home portfolio, now.

While Kidman’s career took her all over the world, Urban’s success as a country music star meant that setting up house in Nashville, Tennessee, made sense for the couple. So, in 2008, when the pair scooped up the sprawling Nashville mansion just two years after they tied the knot, it wasn’t long before the Australian expats were calling their new country abode, home.

Lovingly dubbed “Queen of Northumberland,” the two-acre plot features a 10,925-square-foot abode replete with a large swimming pool, tennis courts, home theatre, hobby room and sprawling common areas primed for entertaining friends and family.

The Nashville mansion also provides a home base for the pair’s teenage daughters, who are currently in high school.

Shortly after the birth of the couple’s first child, Sunday Rose, in 2008, Nicole and Keith added a Beverly Hills house to their growing portfolio.

The home, situated in a gated community, was reportedly purchased for just under US$4.8m and features five bedrooms and four bathrooms across 4100 square-feet, with views of the canyons beyond.

According to all reports, the West Coast home is still owned by the celebrity couple.

On a property buying roll, the new parents purchased a verdant Sutton Forest retreat in the New South Wales Southern Highlands, named Bunya Hill.

Bought in 2008 (the same year she starred in the Baz Luhrmann film Australia) for $6.5 million, the 45-hectare property became a much-needed reprieve from the couple’s busy lives, often playing host to family gatherings and holiday celebrations.

The pristine 1878 Georgian mansion, with its original pressed-metal ceilings, cedar staircase and marble fireplaces, was once home to Lord Augustus Loftus, a governor of NSW in the 1880s, before signing over to its new celebrity homeowners.

During her Vogue 73 Questions interview, Kidman professed her love for the country escape, saying she loved “the simplicity, the air, the peace.”

While the couple have maintained all the incredible heritage elements of the original home, they’ve made some additions of their own over the years, installing an 18-metre swimming pool, full sized tennis court and a full-service gym.

But aside from the verdant views and fresh country air keeping Kidman and her family grounded, there’s also the alpacas and herds of Black Angus cattle to keep the international couple coming back.

While the country might be where the celebrity couple spent most of their time while back on home soil, they also favoured the harbour-side setting of Milsons Point.

The pair purchased the penthouse of the Latitude building in 2009 for $6 million. Over the years, Kidman and Urban quietly snapped up multiple apartments in the same building – reportedly at least six. Together, they’ve spent more than $27 million in the Harbourside block, even combining two penthouses into one mega-apartment with uninterrupted views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

It’s the ultimate Sydney base and a nod to Kidman’s roots. And given her love for the city, many wonder if this is the property she’ll hold onto most tightly.

What Happens To Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban’s Homes After Separation?

Will Nicole keep her Sydney penthouse? it seems likely she’ll want to hold onto the Milson’s point apartments given how much time (and money) the pair have put into carving out their own slice of harbourside paradise.

Given his career calls for a home base in Nashville, Urban’s Nashville abode will likely remain under his name, while their additional family home will most certainly remain a central point of comfort for their children over the next few years.

With the separation making headlines, fans are asking: what happens to all these homes? As their lives move in new directions, the houses they’ve shared will tell a different story. But for now, they remain one of the most enviable celebrity property portfolios to date.
