Big Brother Australia has been revived by Channel 10, bringing the return of the iconic neon set to its original home: Dreamworld Studios on the Gold Coast. The 2025 season is hosted by Mel Tracina – who you may know from her days on the comedy panel show, The Cheap Seats or as a National Radio Host on Nova – and is narrated by the iconic voice of Big Brother: Mike Goldman. Former host Sonia Kruger has stepped back from the role due to her affiliation with Channel Seven.
“The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right,” says host, Mel Tracina. “We’re excited to be home (and in a new house that hopefully comes with an air fryer!)”

Where is the Big Brother house?
The Big Brother house is located at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast in Queensland. It was completely rebuilt for the 2025 season on a soundstage in the Dreamworld Exhibition Centre located in the Winterfest Ice Skating Rink. The live eviction and show stage will also be held inside Dreamworld, in the space that was once the Troll’s Village.
Contestants will be able to hear the screams from nearby ride-goers, and vice-versa, theme park visitors can also hear the contestants (although let’s hope they won’t be screaming too). “There will be some noise spill. It’s in the heart of Dreamworld,” says Executive Producer Sarah Thornton. “People who come to Dreamworld can see, touch, feel, Big Brother.”

It was completely rebuilt and given a fresh makeover for the 2025 season, while still keeping some of the iconic Big Brother elements. “With a brand-new house built on familiar ground, this season will be centred on real people with real stories, talking in real time,” Daniel Monaghan Paramount Australia’s SVP of Content and Programming.

The interiors are described as “Gold Coast meets Miami” – where bright colours, retro decor, playful shapes and soft curves take centre-stage. Describing the design brief, producers say they wanted a “house fit for reality [TV], but also one you’d actually want to live in.”
Featuring bright pinks, blues, the iconic diary room (naturally), palm trees, a plunge pool, plenty of neon and LED lights, and over 100 cameras remotely filming the contestants’ every move (yes, even in the bathroom and toilets), the kooky house is sure to elicit some kooky behaviour.

What channel owns Big Brother?
The show made a splash on Network 10 from the Dreamworld location following the 2001 premiere, which ran for eight seasons before it was canned in 2008. The Nine Network then picked up the show for three seasons from 2012 to 2015 before shutting down production once again. In 2019, the Seven Network attemped to revive the format, putting in four seasons between 2020 and 2023, before handballing it back the original station, Network 10, to breathe new life into in 2025.

During this two decade-long game of hot potato, The Big Brother house was devastated by a dramatic fire, which completely gutted the original set of the reality show. It was alleged that a group of children set the blaze, of whom four were charged with arson.
Following the fire, the set was completely rebuilt, and what an iconic set it has become.

Unlike other reality shows, where contestants famously complain about getting a “bad edit”, Big Brother is filmed and aired live – you can tune in to what the contestants are up to at any point via the live stream on 10Play.
Big Brother Australia premiered on Sunday 9th of November and will continue until December 2025. It will air from Monday to Friday at 7.30pm and Sundays at 7.00pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
